Obituary: Charles C. Wright, Ponca City resident, died Tuesday, March 23, 2004. He was 84.A service will be held at 2pm on Friday, March 26, 2004 in the chapel of the Trout Funeral Home with the Rev. Rodney Hutcheson, Pastor, Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church, officiating. Burial will follow in the Odd Fellows Cemetery. The family will greet friends at Trout funeral home on Thursday evening from 7-8p.m.
Charles was born on June 30, 1919 in Bridgeport, TX, the son of Charles and Louise (Grill) Wright. In 1936 he moved with his parents to Ponca City. On May 27, 1942, Charles joined the United States Army, where he was stationed at Fort Sill. He served in the Rhineland, Ardennes and Northern France Campaigns, for which he earned three bronze battle stars. He was also awarded a medal of good conduct, a European Theater of Operations ribbon and an American Theater of Operations ribbon. He was honorably discharged on October 4, 1945 and was proud to serve our country. Charles was a member of the American Legion-Huff Minor Post 14 and the DAV. He enjoyed traveling with his family.
Survivors include two sons, Melburn Wright and his wife Mary and Charles Dean Wright, all of Ponca City. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Ruth and Mary.
