Joseph Mishler

(8 Apr 1793 - 16 Apr 1867)

He came to Stark County when the country was still new. Soon after coming to Stark County, he married Marry, daughter of Christian Balmer.
He was the person who built the house and planted the orchard which in former years were on the eastern part of the farm on the SW quarter section of No 8 in Plain Township.
After residing new Dayton, for some years, he finally settled on a farm about one mile southwest of Mogadore, O.
He was a model farmer and was very tidy and orderly with his buildings and farm implements, and his rule was "A place for everything and everything in its place."
...
He was looked to as the most exemplary man in all the sections where he had formed an acquaintannce, but alas! such is the early perfection that when we almost worship a friend there falls a gloom over our hearts through some act of theirs.
The whole circle of Mr. Mishler's friends were shocked (almost thunder struck) at the manner of his death.
Since retiring from the farm he had an occasional season of despondency but nothing serious was expected. On the morning of his death, he went after his usual chores. When his wife noticed his absence, she went to the barn to hunt him, when Lo! hanging to a ladder used to go to the haymow she found him cold in death.
He was the father of ...Mrs. Frank Myers of Mogadore.
