Individual Details
George N Davis
(24 May 1871 - 13 May 1947)
The following was written about George N by Bessie (Diley) Evans.
George N. Davis was a man of unusual leadership ability. he was always "out front" with interesting ideas and suggestions. He knew how to involve people and he gave generously of his time and talents to Radnor Congregational Church. He always put the church ahead of his many activities. He and his wife Hattie (Phillips) were joined by their 3 daughters Georgia Hilliard, Nora Rinehart and Mary Janet Lee in many activities in Sunday School and Church. This was a Christian family at work.
George N was the youngest of 4 sons of Robert O Davis. George N. had a good example to follow because his father and brothers were always busy in the work of the church as they grew up. They lived in the Clyde Coonfare house across the road from Radnor School on St. Rt. 203.
He was teacher of the George N. Davis Sunday School Class, Clerk,, Deacon and an enthusiastic member of the Church for many, many years. Since he was also a public school teacher and later a rural mail Carrier for the Radnor Post Office everyone knew George N.
This community and Radnor Congregational Church have certainly been blessed to have had the love, respect and leadership of this man.
Although his daughters are now active members of churches in other Communities, we still like to think that they belong to us. Bessie D. Evans.
