Evan Evans

Evan (1778-1851) and Mary (Hughes) (1790-1851) Evans emigrated from Montgomery shire Wales in 1841. They brought with them a family of eight children. The Evans family in Wales was a very ancient one. The farm was called "Nant-y-Deffaid" and been handed down from father to eldest son for more than 500 years. The children were Margaret she was the grandmother of Walter Penry, John and Eleanor Hilton, Mary, wife of David Hughes, Robert, William (G granfather of Walter, Paul,and Durwood Evans), Elizabeth grandmother of Wealthy Thomas & Irma Watkins. Sarah grandmother of Merald Watkins, Anna grandmother of Charles and George N. Davis, Margaret Rearich (a welsh tredition to name a child the same as an earlier deceased child).In 1848 Evan Evans bought one of the 40 lots laid out by David Pugh surveyed in 1802. Evan and Mary are buried in the Radnor Cemetery in the center of the old section immediately south of the graves of David and Mary Evans Hughes just east of the old vault.
