William R. Powell
(5 Feb 1876 - 17 May 1967)
William Robert was born in Radnor, Ohio and attended grade and high school there. He attended Oberlin College and Case School of Applied Science, graduated from Columbia University in 1905. He received a degree in Fine Arts from Sorbonne in Paris France 1907. He was a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity and Hiram Lodge of the Masons. He was listed in "Who's Who" as a registered architect in Cleveland Ohio in Nov 1940. He retired in 1964 returned to Radnor and died there in 1967. He is buried in the Radnor Cemetery where he had designed and built the Lynch gate entrance several years before.
Several important buildings were designed by Mr. Powell in the Cleveland and surrounding area starting about 1914. He designed and supervised the building of the Radnor High School in 1917 and other buildings in Radnor.
