William Watkins

(28 Apr 1795 - 22 May 1871)

The village of Llanerfyl is west of Welshpool.
He came on the Ship "Kensington" from Liverpool to Philadelphia arriving June 15 1820. He met his future wife Mary Jones on ship who was traveling with parents David and Mary Margaret Jones to Radnor TWP.
Wm's father died a few months after he left Wales. His mother may have come to Radnor TWP.
Wm and Mary built the large brick home on the NW corner of Radnor Road and 203 in 1850 and made it "Delhi house" in 1856 a tavern/hotel.. Wm. was a master cabinet maker, a skill he learned in Wales prior to coming to Radnor, and the house doors and walnut woodwork reflect that skill.
