Samuel Lewis

Samuel Lewis was a farmer and stock-raiser in Radnor Township. He is the son of John and Sarah Hughes Lewis, natives of South Wales. In 1859 he came with his parents first to Licking County and lived there until he was 17. He then apprenticed to learn the art of plastering and after serving his 4 year time he formed a partnership with a Mr. Williams that lasted for 3 years and he went on his own for 9 more years. He then purchased a farm about 1 mile west of Delhi (now Radnor). He was united in Marriage Dec 25 1856 to Mary Jane Gallant and there were 5 children born to them.
Samuel served during the Civil War in Company A, 145 th Regiment of the O.V.I.
He was elected to the Ohio Legislature in 1893(71 session) and reelected in 1895 (72 nd. session).
