Iva Gertrude Dunlap
(10 Apr 1879 - 12 Dec 1954)
Iva Dunlap Welsh said about being a teacher in district 1 school (One room)
This was my first school in 1897-98 school year. I enjoyed teaching, and we had a pump and did not have to carry water from a near by house. I boarded with Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Evans and their four year old daughter Grace (Now Mrs Hosea Lavender) often spent the day in school and could read very well. We always had morning worship and the children were very quiet and attentive. I had to go to Radnor for my paycheck and Mrs Evans would drive her horse and take me the last Friday of each month. Salary $30/mo.
