Individual Details

Thomas Warren Jr.

(1757 - 25 Aug 1838)

Thomas likely born in Cornwall England rather than York Co PA as listed in many entries. Evidence comes from the Warren family Bible passed down through the family.
Thomas lived in York county and joined the 2nd Reg. Pennsylvania Line in November 1778, was transferred to Invalid Corps in Jan of 1779. He was charged with desertion in Sept 1779. The charges went to Court Marshal and he was convicted with a sentence of death. Brig General Woodford sent a letter on Feb 4 1880 to Gen Washington informing him of the conviction but telling him that this was Thomas's first offense. Washington confirmed the sentence. However, this seems to be a SNAFU as Washington later pardoned him. It seems he was with a group that was ordered to South Carolina but could not report because of weather. At any rate he served until 1783. He came back to Pennsylvania and later (about 1810) moved to Radnor Ohio and died there Aug 25 1838.
