Individual Details
John Jacoby
(1 Nov 1771 - 9 Apr 1844)
John and Catherine were in the 1820 Berks County PA census but came to Marion County Ohio later that year. They purchased government land in Richland TWP for $1.25/ acre that became the Jacoby homestead.
There seems to be a parting of the Jacoby family about 1800. It is said that John's parents were Bartholomew (1747-1830) and Maria Catherine Mayer (1749-1820) Jacoby. Shortly before 1800 Bartholomew and Maria moved their family (all but John) to Mississippi and changed the name from Jacoby to James an anglicized version of Jacoby (again all but John who retained the Jacoby spelling).
