Jacob F Fox Sr.

Jacob was born in Germany and left with his parents on Jan 28 1834. The family name was Fuchs pronounced Fox so was changed to the English spelling. The family came to a 100 acre farm about 1 mile north of Prospect. The farm was wild land which they proceeded to clear.
Jacob was married 4 times with 15 children.
Jacob was killed by the Hocking Valley Train number 34 (a passenger train) on the tracks running through his land. His daughter Emma witnessed the accident watching the aged man cross the track in front of the on coming train. He seemed unaware of the approaching train. He was driving his horse and buggy when the engine struck the buggy tossing his body several yards. The horse had cleared the track and survived.
