Individual Details

John Peter Darst

(1759 - 23 Dec 1843)

John Peter seems to have been born in Berks County PA, appears to have married and had one child in 1786. In 1788 he married Elisabeth (?Elizabertha) Fisher. Their lst child Jacob was born in West Virginia. in 1794. They moved to Fairfield Co Ohio, then on to Troy Township, Ohio where it appears both died about 1840-1843 and buried in the Darst family cemetery (on the Peter Darst farm in 1849). In 1948 a search was made for the Cemetery then on the Guy Davis farm. The Cemetery had been plowed over several years before and several broken stones found strewn about on the farm. It is thought that 6 to 10 graves were lost when the graveyard was destroyed. Known from the broken stones are: Sophia Butcher (1838-1840), Susanna (Darst) Butcher 1775-1845, John Darst 1787-1844, John Peter Darst 1759-1843 and Chancy Darst 1800-1839.
