Thomas P Jones

Thomas Pryce Jones was born in Ebensburg PA September 3 1828. His father was born in Wales but came to N.Y. in 1814 becoming a minister of the Congregational Church. His parents moved to Radnor, Ohio in 1839 to become minister of the Welsh Congregation Church from 1839 to 1848. He became associated with the American Sunday School Union in 1848 but the family remained in Radnor until 1855.
Thomas P married Elisabeth Williams in Radnor, Ohio Oct 13 1853 and they moved to Iowa in 1855. His father went along to help with the move. He was so impressed with the land that he consulted his wife and they decided to move there as well.
Thomas was made an elder in the local church and served until August of 1862 when he joined the Iowa 22nd Infantry. In June of 1863 he was discharged because of disability. He came home regained strength and went back to the Army near Nashville, TN until he was again forced to return home because of his health. In 1865 he and his family moved to Omaha Nebraska. The family moved to a farm in Sarpy County. He sold the land in Sarpy County and moved to Falls City Nebraska in 1884. In 1895 he was elected to the State Legislature serving with honor and distinction. He died March 4 1899.
