He enlisted 17 Mar 1862 in the 12th Virginia Cavalry Company D at Shepherdstown as Pvt. POW at Halltown, Jefferson County, WV He was in the Bull Run battle, battle at Richmond and a number of others and was wounded while on picket duty at Brandy Station June 9, 1863. On 15 Jul 1863 (Baltimore, Pt. Lookout, 17 Aug 1863) sent as a prisoner of war to City Point, MD. Exchanged 17 Mar 1864 and paroled at Mt. Jackson 18 Apr 1865.Census (family)
