He came to Louisiana with his father building bridges. He and Celiametata country danc e . H e coulde play the violin and was asked toplayfordancing. He was good-looking and all t h e gi rls wanted to dancewithhim,but he only wanted to dance with Celia. He constructed dwel l ings forthefamilies. and was the forst to go to a new field. He wasinterestedinreading a n d al ways instisted his family have a newspaper,and allmustread it. He died as aresult o f a n inj ury from his work.Hewasconstructing an oil derrick, and the stairway collapsed on h im . Helivedas an invalid for a year afterwards.
