Frank Prater, 80, Dies April 22 Magoffin
Man Was Father of 12 Frank L Prater,80, of Salyersville died in thePaintsville Hospital April 22. He was born June 12,1880, the son ofLeander C Prater and Margaret Morton Prater.He was united in marriage in1901 to Mary Patrick. To this union was born six children RuthHoskins,Salyersville; Mrs.Neil Burris,Madisonville;Mrs.ElgiePorter,Salyersville;Mrs.Minnie Belle Vanhoose,Catlettsburg.His wife andtwo sons, Lawrence Prater and Edgar M Prater,preceded him in death. OnAugust 20,1918 he was united in marriage to Mary Coffe and to this unionwere born six sons all of whom survive as well as 30 grandcildren and 15great grandchildren. In 1921 he joined the the First Christian Church ofSalyersville and used as his life's motto "Thank the Lord for this muchdone." A great portion of his life was spent a servent of thepeople;eight years as County Court Clerk, four years as a member of theCity Council,four years as Police Judge and four years as Parole Officerfor the State of Kentucky. Funeral services were held at the PraterMemorial Methodist Church Monday,April 24,with Rev.William Savageofficiating.Ne was assisted by Rev.David Blankenship,the pastor.Intermentwas in the Gardner Cemetery at Salyersville. Active pallbearers wereStanley Gardner, Merrill Pyles, Earl C Prater, Buster Stacy, Paul Prater,Robert Salyer, Paul Rowe, Todd Preston, Robert May,Langley Patrick andMorris Prater.
