EDUCATION: Graduated from Harvard, M.A. 1642, first class ever from an American college. Served as substitute for the president of Harvard College in July 1684 upon the illness of President John Rogers, his wife's grandfather. Substitute Rector of Harvard 1688.

OCCUPATION: Joined Thomas Cobbet in Congregational Ministry, Ipswich, Massachusetts, 1656, ordained 1658. Approved witch hunting in Massachusetts.
