Bio notes: Born in Virginia, but moved to Georgia with his parents Turner & Nancy Lawson in the early 1860's (before 1865).
During the 1880 Census George & Alice lived on Smiths Cross Roads (aka Smiths Crossroads) in Chipley, GA - Harris County (*city is now called Pine Mountain, GA).
He's listed in the year 1900 Census for Harris County in the state of GA (Pine Mountain, GA fka Chipley, GA until 1958) living in the home with his wife & children. This Census lists his birth month and year as June 1861.
Per the 1930 Census it is recorded that he and his parents were born in the state of Virginia. He (and his family) may have been "traded" to a farm in the state of Georgia.
The 1930 Census also states that he was 19 years old when he married Alice who was 15 years old. Their Marriage License Record confirms they were married on Dec. 17, 1879 in Harris County, GA.
In 1930 George & Alice's household consisted of his sister-in-law Louise, and grandchildren (Mary Wesswood, Alice Wesswood, Alma Wesswood, Maggie Wesswood, James Wesswood, and Christine Lawson). The grandchildren's last name should have been correctly spelled as Westwood.
George died before the 1940 Census...because his wife is listed as a widower for that period.
