Louis Emory McComas

Louis McComas graduated from Dickinson College at Carlisle, Pennsylvania in 1866 with high honors. He joined the legal bar of Washington County, Maryland in 1868.
In 1882 Louis was elected as a Republican to the House of Representatives. He served until the election of 1890 when he lost a bid for a fifth term. In 1892 Louis was secretary of the Republican National Committee. President Harrison appointed him a judge to the Supreme Court of the District of Columbia. In 1898 he won election to the United States Senate. After one term in the Senate, President Theodore Roosevelt appointed him in 1905 as Associate Justice of the Court Appeals for the District of Columbia.
Louis McComas also taught international law at the Law School of Georgetown University. He was a trustee of Dickinson College.
