Peter Siebert Newcomer

(28 Feb 1847 - 11 Feb 1938)

Peter Newcomer farmed in Benevola, Maryland, until 1894, when he took over the LeCrone homestead near Waynesboro, Pennsylvania. He belonged to the Lutheran Church, but was a major donor to the United Brethren in Christ Orphanage and Home in Quincy, Pennsylvania. Peter gave two farms to the Orphanage, which became the Peter Newcomer Memorial Farm #1 and #2. Peter was a close friend of the orphanage's founder, Reverend H. J. Kitzmiller.
