Individual Details
(19 Sep 1794 - 9 May 1869)
John Neff, Jr. and family moved to East Mill Creek, Utah, where John became a Bishop in the Church of Jesus Christ and Latter-Day Saints. It appears that most, maybe all of John Neff, Jr.'s children were born in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, as the one child that died as a youth is connected to Lancaster. In 1848, John built one of the first flour mills in Utah, at Mill Creek, now a suburb of Salt Lake City. He gave away much of the flour to the poor, and sold the rest for six cents a pound in the days where flour was fetching a dollar a pound. Also, he refused to sell to speculators.
