Eby Eikenberry belonged to the Methodist Church in Camden, Ohio. He graduated from Ohio State University and, later, served as a trustee of the university. Eby had a career as a grain dealer and insurance official. From 1916 to 1917, Eby was president of the National Grain Dealer's Association. In World War I, he was a food administrator. Eby also served in the Ohio State Legislature.
