Individual Details
Andreas "East Petersburg" Hirschy
(1698 - 24 Dec 1754)
Andreas Hirschy patented 500 acres in Hempfield (now East Hempfield) Township on 15 January 1735. The first East Petersburg Mennonite meetinghouse and schoolhouse were built on part of his property. His 1748 Martyrs' Mirror is in the Muddy Creek Farm Library.
There is confusion related to Andrew's parents. David Johnson and Ruth Clark, et. al. give Christian Hershey (?-1733) and Ada as Andreas' parents, while Henry Hershey gave Andrew (Hans) Hersche (1675-?) and Anna Guender. Allan Garber does not give parents for Andrew. Andrew (Hans) Hersche (1675-?) and Anna Guender seem most likely to me, however not certain enough to link in my data.
