Hans Greiter
(Abt 1673 - )
Hans Greider landed in America on 4 August 1717. On 14 May 1715 he was one of nine Mennonite families that signed a letter in Ittlingen, Palatinate protesting a tax on Anabaptists. Hans settled on 400 acres in present-day West Lampeter between the Conestoga River and Mill Creek.
There are differences among researchers on who this husband and his wife are. Instead of Hans Greiter (1673-1725) and Anna (1680-1743), Ruth Clark, et.al.; Melvin Eby; Ivan Leaman; and James Strite gave the couple as Jacob Grittor (1681-1741) and Elizabeth.
