Michael Witmer landed in Philadelphia on 28 August 1733 aboard the Hope. It is possible that his father's name was Uli Witmer. On 17 may 1739 Michael obtained a warrant for 93 acres in present-day Penn Township, and son Hans obtained a patent for the land 4 June 1746.
