James Abshire
(1 Aug 1777 - 18 Jul 1868)
James Abshire and Elizabeth Overholts moved to Preble County, Ohio soon after marrying; and then to Randolph County, Indiana in 1821. The family lived about one mile north of Lynn on the west side of Mud Creek. In 1828 they moved to a farm near Liberty Chapel United Brethren Church in Washington Township, Indiana, where they lived the rest of their lives.
James Ashire and Elizabeth Overholts belonged to the Liberty Chapel Christian Church.
James served as a private in Captain Richard Sloan's Company of the Third Regiment, Fifth Brigade, First Division of Ohio in the War of 1812.
A chair made by James Abshire around 1835 is on display at the Randolph County Museum.
