Andrew Gerber moved to York County, Pennsylvania. During the Revolutionary War, Andrew was returning home from Newport, Delaware, where he had taken wheat to market. He was surrounded by Revolutionary troops on foot retreating from the Battle of Brandywine. They climbed aboard his wagon and rode away from British enemy.
