There is confusion on who Johannes Hertzler's parents were.
Leon Hertzler belives that the father was Jacob Hertzler, came to America on 9 September 1749 aboard the ship Saint Andrew. There were two Jacob Hertzlers on the ship, and the other was an Amish bishop. The Jacob Hertzler (born about 1718-died before 1769 and married to Othelia) that Leon Hertzler identified settled in Hempfield, Pennsylvania.
J. Melvin Eby, Leon Hertzler and Richard Buckwalter believe Johannes' father was also name Johannes, and immigrated to American in 1750 (November 3, according to Buckwalter).
