Individual Details
Hans Neukommet Senior
(Abt 1700 - 1755)
Richard Davis believes, but cannot prove, that Hans Neukommet is the Mennonite John Newcomer who arrived in Pennsylvania aboard the Mortonhouse on 23 August 1728.
A Hans Newcomer bought 100 acres in Strasburg Township from Martin and Alice Kendig on 1 May 1729. The next day, he purchased another 100 acres from Martin Kendig (I do not know if this is the same Martin Kendig as the first purchase).
I once thought, but now do not, that the Hans who bought this property is not the Hans that came to America on the Mortonhouse in 1728. Rather, the Hans who bought this land is more likely Johannes Newcomer, son of Peter Newcomer. Both Johannes and Peter came to American in 1717.
