Hans Hess
(1 Jul 1683 - 1 May 1733)
Hans Hess came to America in 1717; he was a shoemaker and a farmer. On 27 May 1718, Hans obtained 100 acres on Mill Creek in present-day West Lampeter Township. Shortly after, he obtained 125 acres on Good's Run on 9 November 1720. Hans added 195 acres of adjacent land on 20 October 1730. Hans Hess signed the Declaration of Loyalty in April 1728, and he was naturalized 14 February 1729/1730 as "John Hess."
