Samuel and Elizabeth Mumma donated the land on which the Dunker church of Antitem was built. This church building is often seen in photographs of the dead soldiers in the Civil War battle of Antitem. Samuel's farm may be the one sketched by artist Alfred Waud during the Battle of Antitem as it was being burned by Union soldiers as seen in the National Geographic issue of May 2012.
