Hans Groff immigrated in 1717. He bought 400 acres in present-day East Lampeter Township on 17 October 1717. Another source stated that Hans resided in Upper Leacock, Lancaster, Pennsylvania. As these two locations are close, I assume that the difference is in between older designation and modern designation.

Hans Groff, Sr. and his first wife may have had six children. The five that are uncertain are: Barbara Groff (1696-?), who married Martin Bar (1690-1758); Hans Groff, Jr. (1698-1748), who may have married Anna Bar, and did marry Barbara; Jacob Groff (1700-1771), who married Nancy Good; Fronica Groff (1705-?), who married Hans Schneider and Peter Good; and Anna Groff (1710-1784), who married Jorg Kreider and Daniel Keeports.
