Individual Details

Ernest Miles Shenefelt

(1 Aug 1880 - 11 Dec 1962)

Francis taught the "pupil-less school south of Minneola the year he
graduated from high school. In order to keep their district, the board
had to hire a teacher regardless of the fact there were no pupils. It
was only the required hours per day (not 6 or 8). I don't know how many
months her was there.
No, Dad ( Ernest) was not ordained or a charter member at Okla. City.
He was ordained at Ames. (OK) We attended church at Bloom, (KS) after
moving to Mineola. Every Sunday A. M. we rode the train to
Bloom--attended meeting all day and returned to Mineola at night.
You are right about coming to Polo. Dad(Ernest) rode with the horses
and other possessions on the train. Francis drove us by car -- A Model
T. He had to drive the entire distance since mother didn't drive & I
(Bertha) wasn't old enough.
(Some Smith Information. See Mary's notes.)
While Francis was in college he started a church at Woosung, IL. It
was a very small community, but the church is still there and has
services.
