Individual Details

Joseph Mahaffey Junior

(19 Apr 1836 - 2 Aug 1913)

Joseph Mahaffey was listed as "Senior" on Find A Grave. As his father's name is "Joseph," I have used "Junior" instead. In 1860, Joseph, Jr., was a shoemaker in Guilford, Pennsylvania. He served in the Civil War, enlisting on 1 October 1861, but was discharged by the surgeon for "unfitness for duty as a soldier caused by general disability." Trying again, Joseph enlisted a second time on 12 January 1864, served as a private with Company M, 9th Pennsylvania Cavalry (92nd PA), and was honorably discharged on 18 July 1865 at Lexington, North Carolina.
