Individual Details
William T. Clingenpeel
(22 Apr 1847 - 3 May 1903)
William Clingenpeel was killed by a neighbor. No motive was listed in the Lynchburg News article of May 4, 1903, but the description in the paper was graphic: "Mr. W. T. Clingenpeel, who was shot and cut so severely by his neighbor, Sawney Arthur, Wednesday morning, April 23rd, died last night. His head was nearly severed from his body, and two bullets lodged in his back, but for several days it looked as if Mr. Clingenpeel would recover."
