Individual Details
Benedict Mellinger
(25 Jan 1715 - 1795)
Benedict Mellinger came to Philadelphia from South Germany in 9 September 1749 aboard the St. Andrew with three brothers, all of whom settled in present-day Ephrata Township. As Scott Mellinger explained in his 2020 Pennsylvania Mennonite Heritage article, there were two Benedict Mellinger's in Lancaster County at the same time in the 1700s. The other Benedict Mellinger came in October 1754 aboard the Brothers, probably with his two brothers, Abraham and Jacob, and his father, Johannes.
Ruth Clark gave the parents of Benedict, who came in 1749, as Johannes (1660-17440) and Eva Marie Schultz. Based on Scott Mellinger's article, I now believe these are more likely the parents of the Benedict, who came in 1754.
