Johannes Rohrer, Sr. may have resided in Hamm, Palatinate in 1743, and he may have arrived in Philadelphia on 9 September 1749 aboard the Saint Andrew.
Johannes worked for others for four years to repay the cost of his passage across the Atlantic Ocean. He bought a 200-acre farm east of Conestoga Creek, bordering Pitney Road, in present-day East Lampeter Township. He became a naturalized British citizen 21 November 1769. His barn and springhouse were still standing in 1990.
