Williams gave Charles Warfield the title of "major" and called him the hero of the "Peggy Stewart." The "Peggy Stewart" was a British ship carrying tea that docked at Annapolis, Maryland at the outbreak of the Revolutionary War. As Major of a batallion, Charles marched his troops to Annapolis and ordered the captain of the ship to burn the vessel and its tea. The British captain complied. Charles Warfield graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and lived in Anne Arundel County, Maryland.
