Michael Kauffman
( - Abt 1734)
Michael Kauffman came to Pennsylvania before 1727, but settled in Virginia as early as 1729. He may have moved back and forth between Pennsylvania and Virginia. Michael signed a petition along with other settlers in 1733 asking the Virginia Lieutenant Governor William Gooch to confer contested land deeds to them in the Shenandoah Valley. Gooch gave them their deeds. Virginia had recruit settlers west of the Blue Ridge to form a buffer between the English of Tidewater and Piedmont and the French and Natives of the west.
