Peter Whitmer Senior

Peter Witmer and Mary Musselman hosted Joseph Smith, his wife Emma, and Oliver Cowdrey at the Witmer home in Fayette County, New York in June 1829, when Joseph Smith completed the translation of the Book of Mormon. The first meeting the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints was held at the Witmer home on 11 April 1830.
