Nicholas Gerber and family landed in Philadelphia on 17 August 1729 aboard the Mortonhouse. He obtained a warrant on 14 January 1734 for 150 acres in Coventry Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania. On 7 February 1744, he a tract of land known as "Bachelor's Choice" in Manheim Township (then in Lancaster County, now in York County).
