Abraham Erb

Abraham and Magdalena Erb moved to Waterloo Township, Canada in 1806 and bought 900 acres on the west bank of the Grand River. Brothers Abraham, John and Jacob Erb, along with cousin Daniel Erb formed the German Company in 1803 with the purpose to buy land in Canada and start a new community. They purchased 60,000 acres in Upper Canada (now Waterloo Township, Ontario) and, along with forty-eight Mennonites from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, settled along the Grand River.
Abraham also promoted education by building a one-room log school in 1820.
