Christian Steinman Senior

Christian Steinman immigrated to America in 1717. He bought 150 acres on the Little Conestoga Creek, present-day Maple Grove, on 13 May 1729 and built a grist mill. On 27 December 1740, Christian purchased another 200 acreas in Conestoga Township. The old Abbeyville Mennonite Meetinghouse was built on his property by 1750.
Birth records for his family were found in a family Bible bought by Christian in 1770.
Christian signed the Declaration of Loyalty on 1 April 1728, but never completed the process to become a naturalized British citizen.
