Jacob Newcomer's farmed in Hempfield. His property includes present day intersection of Elizabeth Street and Stony Battery Road. It is generally east of that intersection and extended north to touch current Highway 283. As shown on the East Hempfield warrantee map, Jacob's 176 acres were patented by him on 11 October 1750. Death
Jacob Newcomer's farm went to his son, John, but not until 1781, when John married at the age of 28. I am unsure who operated the farm between Jacob's death in 1759 and the transfer in 1781.Endnotes
