William Karras, County Native, Dies Thursday
William A. Karras, a life-long resident of St. Croix county, died Thursday, Feb. 2 at Holy Family hospital in New Richmond, where he had been a patient for the past month. He was 70.
He was born in St. Joseph townsip, St. Croix county, the son of Robert and Catherine Karras. His parents, three sisters and two brothers preceded him in death.
For the past twelve years , Karras has been sexton of St. Bridget’s cemetery in River Falls. Prior to that position, he farmed near Hudson and River Falls.
Surviving are his wife, four sons, Robert, Leo and John of River Falls and Raymond of St. Paul; 17 grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. J. A. Casanova (Catherine Karras) of Hudson.
Funeral services were Monday at the Cashman-Davis-McLaughlin Funeral at 9 a.m. and at St. Bridget’s Catholic chuch at 9:30 in River Falls, with the Rev. Father Jos. Higgins officiating.
