Memories of a Threshing Bee--Orlo Bottolfson remembers . . .
"I know that Ole Moe threshed for Dad (Oscar Bottolfson). Some of the farmers on our run were George Vollert, Lewey Halvorson, Spike Olson, and Ole Knutson. I would go over to Spike's and get stuck in the grain bin dumping sacks. I was ten or eleven years old at the time. It was a lot of hard work and hot work but you always got a good meal. I don't think anybody complained much about the food. I also drove a team on the bundle wagon. Spike pitchers used a three time fork to throw bundles on the wagaon. My dad and Raymond Carlso were always the baggers on the separator. I don't remember ever getting paid -- you did this for your neighbors and then they helped you."
