Funeral services for Carl H. Johnson, 73, were held Wed., Feb. 25, from Jones-Hauge Funeral Chapel. Interment was in Salem Cemetery, Stillwater.
Mr. Johnson died Feb. 23, 1970, in St. Paul following a short illness. He was born in Stillwater on Feb. 23, 1897, the son of Peter and Emma Johnson, and baptized and confirmed at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Stillwater.
On April 18, 1925, at Hudson, he was united in marriage with Margaret Gartmann. They farmed in the New Richmond-Stanton area for many years, later moving to St. Paul where he worked at Armours until retiring in 1962.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret; one son, Donald, Stillwater; eight daughters, Mrs. Teresa Sciesinski, Mrs. Alois (Jean) Riedle, Mrs. Harvey (Louise) Sachs, Mrs. Margaret Riedle, St. Paul; Mrs. Gordon (Evelyn) Green, Hudson; Mrs. Lyle (Diane) Thompson, Osceola; Mrs. Howard (Gloria) Bottolfson and Mrs. Dean (Mary) Thompson, Star Prairie; 22 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are one brother, Frank, Spokane, Wash., and one sister, Mrs. Albert Julian, Forest Lake. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Kathryn.
Casketbearers were four grandsons, DuWayne Green, Ronald Green, Nathan Johnson and Wayne Bottolfson; two nephews, James Johnson and Tony Gartmann.
