Augusta Lux

(6 Sep 1835 - 9 Feb 1918)

My great-grandmother, Augusta Lux, was born in Neu Altmannsdorf on September 6, 1835, and was married there on January 23, 1866, to Robert Friend. Robert and Augusta and twp youngest children, Robert Jr. and Ottilia, emigrated in 1887, coming to Hudson where Augusta's brother, J. J. Lucks, had built a home for them at 905 Tenth Street and where the two oldest children, Max and Anna had settled.

Theresa said her grandmother Augusta remained loyal to her German heritiage. Though she understood the family when they spoke English, she would respond in her native German.
