Just last December lif for Brody Larson of Star Prairie was much like that of any other New Richmond High School teen-ager, but suddenly eveything changed.
Larson became sick and learned he has an incurable disease that is attacking and killing his one kidney. His other kidney was removed at birth because of a congenital defect...
The kidney disease made Larson so sick that he missed 44 days of school last year. This summer Larson was well enough to make up the school work he missed last year, and he even played softball. He played on the men's league in New Richmond and on the coed and fast pitch teams in Star Prairie...
A decision he had to make after school started was whether to play football as he did during his freshman, sophomore and junior years. But he knew he couldn't play. He plans to work to keep up with his classwork when he starts dialysis or undergoes a transplant. Then he can graduate with his fellow classmates in the spring of 1997.
