Biography
David F. Crowl, age 70, of Painted Post passed away on Friday, November 15, 2013 at the Corning Center for Rehabilitation in Corning, NY after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Bath, NY on December 30, 1942, he was the son of the late Francis and Anna (Morse) Crowl. On September 14, 1963 he was married to Diane L. Dixon, who survives.

His loving family includes his wife of 50 years, Diane (Dixon) Crowl; his two children John (Zandra) Crowl of Corning, NY and Teresa (Crowl) Haight of Addison, NY; four grandchildren Aaron Haight, Marissa Haight, Alex Crowl, Cerena Crowl, great-grandchild Lucas Haight of Painted Post; sister Christine (Crowl) Gartmann of Woodville, WI; brother Ben (Sally) Crowl of Corning, NY along with many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents he was also predeceased by his two sisters, Mary (Crowl) VanZile and Phyllis (Crowl) Hevner and his brother Marshall Crowl.

David attended Painted Post High School graduating in 1961 and before he retired with 35 years of service, he was employed by the United States Postal Service as Post Master at the Arkport, NY office, prior to that he worked in the Painted Post, NY office.

David enjoyed camping, hunting, and spending time with his family. He especially adored his grandchildren, Aaron & Marissa Haight and Alex & Cerena Crowl and, and his great-grandchild Lucas Haight. He was very fond of his friends from the Sunflower Acres Campground and his retiree friends he would meet for morning breakfasts.

He was a past member of the Gang Mills Fire Department where he dedicated many years of volunteer service in his younger years. He was also a past volunteer who helped establish and coach for the Painted Post Little League.

Family and friends are invited to calling hours at Carpenter's Funeral Home, LLC 14 E. Pulteney St. Corning, NY on Tuesday, November 19, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. A celebration of his life will immediately follow at 7:00 PM with Rev. Dale Ingraham officiating. Burial will take place on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at Hope Cemetery in Campbell at 11:00 am.
